Description

Unlike most succulents, aeoniums grow actively in cool weather and go semi-dormant in high summer heat, so expect them to pause and drop lower leaves in July and August - that is normal, not failure. Dark varieties like 'Zwartkop' color best in strong light with some afternoon shade in our summers. They are not frost hardy in zone 8a, so grow them in containers you can move indoors for winter. Shipped in a 2" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

  • Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus mix - aeoniums need more drainage than average potting soil.
  • Feeding: Feed a dilute succulent fertilizer once or twice during fall and spring growth only.

Hardy in zones 9a–11b. It won't take a hard freeze, so north of its range grow it in a pot and bring it in for winter.

Why we only ship Mondays and Tuesdays

A plant in a dark box is on a clock. Shipping early in the week means it reaches you before the weekend instead of sitting in a warehouse from Friday to Monday. It costs us a day or two of lead time and saves a lot of plants.

Practically: an order placed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or over the weekend goes out the following Monday. We'd rather tell you that now than let you find it in a tracking number.
