Description

Cabbage needs to mature in cool weather, so spring transplants must go out very early or the heads split and bolt in the first warm stretch. Plant firmly into rich soil, keep water even, and mulch heavily, because uneven moisture followed by rain is what cracks a nearly ripe head. Cabbage worms are relentless in the Deep South; scout weekly and treat with Bt as soon as you see holes. Shipped in a 4" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

  • Feeding: Side-dress with nitrogen three weeks after planting and again when heads begin to firm at the center.

Why we only ship Mondays and Tuesdays

A plant in a dark box is on a clock. Shipping early in the week means it reaches you before the weekend instead of sitting in a warehouse from Friday to Monday. It costs us a day or two of lead time and saves a lot of plants.

Practically: an order placed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or over the weekend goes out the following Monday. We'd rather tell you that now than let you find it in a tracking number.
