Description

Thai basil is built differently from sweet Genovese: narrower, firmer leaves, purple stems, and a much higher anise and slight spicy-clove content that survives heat. It handles Alabama humidity better than Italian basil and bolts more slowly, and the purple flower spikes are handsome enough to leave on a few plants for pollinators. Keep most plants pinched, though, for the best leaf quality. Shipped in a 4" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

Why we only ship Mondays and Tuesdays

A plant in a dark box is on a clock. Shipping early in the week means it reaches you before the weekend instead of sitting in a warehouse from Friday to Monday. It costs us a day or two of lead time and saves a lot of plants.

Practically: an order placed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or over the weekend goes out the following Monday. We'd rather tell you that now than let you find it in a tracking number.

How long it takes once it leaves

  • FragrantVolatile oils released by warmth. Scent peaks in afternoon heat or at dusk depending on which pollinator the flower is built for.

  • Good for ContainersCompact, fibrous roots that tolerate a confined pot. Container soil dries several times faster than a bed, so check it more often than you think you need to.
