Description

Plant the small bulbs four inches deep near a walk or in a trough, where their February flowers can actually be seen and their fine grassy leaves ripening afterward will not bother anyone. Reticulated iris needs a long cold dormancy to rebuild its bulb, and in zone 8a it splits into non-flowering ricegrain bulblets after the first year, so treat it as an annual in the Deep South and enjoy it for what it is: an early, inexpensive, spectacular one-season display. The bulbs are toxic to pets if chewed. Shipped in a Pack of 10, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

  • Water: Moist in winter growth, dry in summer
  • Soil: Gritty, alkaline-leaning, fast-draining soil; add sand or fine gravel to Alabama clay.
  • Feeding: A single application of low-nitrogen bulb fertilizer at planting time is sufficient.

Why we only ship Mondays and Tuesdays

A plant in a dark box is on a clock. Shipping early in the week means it reaches you before the weekend instead of sitting in a warehouse from Friday to Monday. It costs us a day or two of lead time and saves a lot of plants.

Practically: an order placed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or over the weekend goes out the following Monday. We'd rather tell you that now than let you find it in a tracking number.

How long it takes once it leaves
