Description

Roma is a determinate paste type that sets most of its crop in a two to three week window, which is exactly what you want for a canning weekend, and its compact frame needs only a sturdy cage rather than tall stakes. Plant deeply, burying two thirds of the stem so roots form along it, and mulch heavily to buffer the soil moisture swings that cause blossom end rot and cracking. Alabama humidity brings early blight and septoria, so space plants for airflow, water at the base and strip the lowest leaves. Shipped in a 4" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

  • Feeding: Feed a balanced fertilizer at planting, then a lower-nitrogen, higher-potassium feed every two to three weeks after fruit set.

Why we only ship Mondays and Tuesdays

A plant in a dark box is on a clock. Shipping early in the week means it reaches you before the weekend instead of sitting in a warehouse from Friday to Monday. It costs us a day or two of lead time and saves a lot of plants.

Practically: an order placed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or over the weekend goes out the following Monday. We'd rather tell you that now than let you find it in a tracking number.
