Description

Corn is normally direct-sown, and these transplants exist to get you two or three weeks ahead in cold spring soil and to skip the crows and blackbirds that dig up sprouting kernels. Corn is wind-pollinated, so plant it in a block of at least four short rows rather than one long row, or the ears come out gappy and half-filled. Handle the root ball gently, plant it out young before it gets rootbound, and feed nitrogen heavily when plants are knee-high and again when the tassels show. Shipped in a 4" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

Why we only ship Mondays and Tuesdays

A plant in a dark box is on a clock. Shipping early in the week means it reaches you before the weekend instead of sitting in a warehouse from Friday to Monday. It costs us a day or two of lead time and saves a lot of plants.

Practically: an order placed Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or over the weekend goes out the following Monday. We'd rather tell you that now than let you find it in a tracking number.
