Description

Like all carrots, these resent root disturbance, so they are grown as a young multi-seeded cell to be planted out very early and left completely undisturbed at the same depth; direct sowing works just as well if you prefer. Colored varieties size up a little slower than standard orange types and hold their pigment best when grown into cool weather. Work the bed loose and rock-free to at least ten inches, keep moisture even, and thin each cluster to the strongest two or three seedlings. Shipped in a 4" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

  • Soil: Deep, loose, sandy, stone-free soil free of fresh manure with a pH of 6.0-6.8.
  • Feeding: Feed sparingly with a low-nitrogen, potassium-rich fertilizer to encourage root sizing rather than leafy tops.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping Policy Everything at Wade Greens is grown and packed by hand at our farm and nursery in Lineville, Alabama. How an order travels depends on what's in it.

Where we ship Plants, trees, bulbs, and merchandise ship anywhere in the lower 48 United States — houseplants, succulents, garden plants, saplings, flower bulbs, and apparel. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes, or international addresses.
Fresh produce, microgreens, and cut flowers are available for local delivery and pickup in Alabama only. Because these items are perishable and picked at peak freshness, we do not ship them outside Alabama. You'll find our fresh items at local farmers markets and through local delivery and farm pickup.

Processing & handling
Orders are prepared fresh, so please allow 1–3 business days for us to pack and dispatch. Live plants and perishable items ship early in the week whenever possible to avoid sitting in transit over a weekend. You'll receive tracking by email as soon as your order is on its way.

Live plants & perishable items
Our plants are living things and are packed with care to travel safely. Minor leaf drop or a little travel stress is normal and typically resolves within a week or two of settling in. If a plant arrives damaged, email us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right. Fresh produce, microgreens, and cut flowers are best enjoyed soon after delivery or pickup — please refrigerate on arrival.

Local delivery & pickup
Local Alabama customers can choose delivery or farm pickup at checkout on eligible items. We'll reach out to coordinate a time. Pickup is at our Lineville, Alabama farm.
