Description

Watermelon is a sprawling heat-lover perfectly suited to Alabama summers, and it needs full sun, warm soil, and serious space to run. Judge ripeness by the curly tendril nearest the fruit drying brown, a buttery yellow ground spot where the melon sits, and a hollow thump. Water deeply and consistently while the fruit sizes, then cut back in the last week or two so the sugars concentrate instead of diluting. Shipped in a 4" Pot, well-rooted from our Lineville, Alabama nursery.

  • Pet safety: Seedless flesh is non-toxic and a popular dog treat, and the vines are not considered poisonous. Rind and large seeds can cause vomiting or intestinal blockage, so serve flesh only.
  • Sourcing: Nursery-grown by Wade Greens; ships healthy from our Lineville, Alabama nursery to the lower 48 states.
Care Instructions
  • Light: Full sun, 8+ hours
  • Water: Deep and regular while sizing, reduced at ripening
  • Soil: Wants deep, warm, sandy loam with good drainage and plenty of organic matter, pH 6.0 to 6.8.
  • Feeding: Feed nitrogen early for vine growth, then shift to potassium and phosphorus once fruit begins to set.

Shipping Policy Everything at Wade Greens is grown and packed by hand at our farm and nursery in Lineville, Alabama. How an order travels depends on what's in it.

Where we ship Plants, trees, bulbs, and merchandise ship anywhere in the lower 48 United States — houseplants, succulents, garden plants, saplings, flower bulbs, and apparel. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes, or international addresses.
Fresh produce, microgreens, and cut flowers are available for local delivery and pickup in Alabama only. Because these items are perishable and picked at peak freshness, we do not ship them outside Alabama. You'll find our fresh items at local farmers markets and through local delivery and farm pickup.

Processing & handling
Orders are prepared fresh, so please allow 1–3 business days for us to pack and dispatch. Live plants and perishable items ship early in the week whenever possible to avoid sitting in transit over a weekend. You'll receive tracking by email as soon as your order is on its way.

Live plants & perishable items
Our plants are living things and are packed with care to travel safely. Minor leaf drop or a little travel stress is normal and typically resolves within a week or two of settling in. If a plant arrives damaged, email us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right. Fresh produce, microgreens, and cut flowers are best enjoyed soon after delivery or pickup — please refrigerate on arrival.

Local delivery & pickup
Local Alabama customers can choose delivery or farm pickup at checkout on eligible items. We'll reach out to coordinate a time. Pickup is at our Lineville, Alabama farm.
